About Margaret Dick

Hello I am Margaret Dick, a third generation leather worker, working from my eco- workshop in rural Fife, powered by the wind and the sun. I use traditional techniques to make my high quality hand crafted leather goods.

My father founded John Dick Leather Goods in 1951 in Main St, Lochgelly with his new bride Diana. Many will remember the shop for the toys that he stocked including his wonderful train set window displays. We sold ironmongery, garden items, toys and of course leather work from the shop.

I rejoined the family business in 1994 learning traditional saddlery techniques and instrument case making with my father, and then I spent several years working for Mackenzie leather goods in Edinburgh, where I extended my expertise to handbags, briefcases and portmanteau. After that I returned to Fife to gradually take over the family business as my father retired.

Since then I have established my own premises at Nemphlar, building my eco workshop which was completed in 2012.
